The iPod is working beautifully. Thank goodness I did not encounter any of the trouble that Cyn did when she got hers -- I was nervous.
I am actually going to return the USB 2.0 card I bought and try to find one with a dongle (yes, I said "dongle," shut up) that'll only take up the one slot. I bought it as a failsafe in case the iPod wouldn't work or charge on my USB 1.1. It seems to be working fine in the short term, though, so I'm not concerned. I'll order a more suitable card later so that I won't have to rip out my modem any time I feel like updating my music or charging my 'Pod. In fact, considering the first mp3 player I had ran on a serial cable, I'm stunned how fast it loads music, even on the 1.1 connection!
At the moment, the slowest part is letting iTunes convert all my wmas to aac format. It's been taking all night. *sigh* I want it to hurry up, because I also bought some "new" cds that I want to load up on the 'Pod asap! (New is in quotes for two reasons. First, as is my wont, only one of the cds has music that dates after 1997, and that one's a compilation that also has music from 1985. Secondly, most of these were cds I actually owned before, but went missing in the Great Music Loss of 2002. That's when an entire cd wallet full of the favourite cds of both Mike and myself mysteriously disappeared on a cross-country bus trip. My cd collection has been sad ever since.)
I bought a few other things today as well. Can I just say how much I loathe and despise bra shopping? I usually love shopping, but bra shopping is the second to worst. The damn things are so expensive, and you can't buy the cheap ones because they're uncomfortable and fall apart. Plus, nothing ruins my self esteem faster than staring at myself half naked in a mirror for large amounts of time. The only thing that's worse is dress shopping. *shudder*
I also further expanded the amount of things I can do from my sofa by also buying a wireless PS2 controller. I'm so fond of the Wavebird I got for the Game Cube that I decided to get something similar for my PlayStation. Not to mention the fact that out of my three current controllers, only one works in any way reliably. Therefore, I got this Logitech one. Supposedly, it's the best one you can get. I didn't want a crappy one -- I've learned the hard way that controllers, like bras, are worth spending money on. Otherwise, loads of frustration and drama ensues.

Really? Could I talk you into coming shopping with me sometime? I tend to avoid shopping that isn't for books or yarn, but it's a lot more fun with friendly people around.
Bra is a funny word. Bra bra bra.
I'd love to have some lovely, lacy, delicate, girly bras, but the only ones I've found that fit are the Target brand $10 ones, which I don't even bother to try on anymore. I just walk into the store, grab a handful in whatever colors they have (generally only black or white), pay for them, and leave.
Bra shopping sucks.
Only problem is that I had been pretty heavily into ogg-vorbis for a while there, so I had to manually convert a whoooole lot of songs back over to mp3!
Christ, me too. I went today, actually. Usually try on every fucking bra in the store that's my size, and maybe will find 2 or 3 that fit right. The consolation today was that my sales timing was awesome, so I got 2 for what I could easily pay for one.
